PAGASA warns against fake solicitations

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned the public against unscrupulous persons posing as its employees to solicit money for a foundation.

The state’s weather bureau has received reports of a certain contractor receiving solicitation for its alleged charity foundation.

“PAGASA would like to inform and caution the public of unauthorized individuals posing to be officials of the agency soliciting money for a foundation,” it said in an advisory Sunday.

It said it does “not tolerate and detest the misrepresentation.”

“Please be advised that no individuals or organizations are authorized to use the name of PAGASA, its officials and employees for a favor,” it added.

PAGASA urged those who received similar communications through email, phone calls or postmails to immediately report the matter to the PAGASA Public Information Unit, which can be reached through telephone number (02) 8284-0800 local 102 to 103 or via email at information@pagasa.dost.gov.ph.
