Cynthia Villar tests positive for Covid-19 — Zubiri

Senator Cynthia Villar has tested positive for Covid-19, Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri announced Tuesday.

During the roll call of senators in the plenary, Zubiri shared the news that Villar contracted Covid-19 — the third senator to test positive for the highly-contagious respiratory disease in less than a week.

“We just want to put on record that our distinguished colleague Senator Cynthia Villar had tested positive today for Covid-19,” he said.

“We would like to wish her well and pray for her speedy recovery and for all our members also to be extra careful in this time where Covid is still surging,” he added.

Still, the older Villar in the upper chamber attended the plenary session virtually.

On Monday, Zubiri also announced that Senator Imee Marcos tested positive for Covid-19.

Last week, returning Senator Alan Peter Cayetano announced that he tested positive for Covid-19 in an antigen test.
