First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos launched her official Facebook page to keep the public posted about her official activities, which immediately garnered more than 142,000 followers and almost 100,000 likes as of posting time.
In a social media post, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. encouraged social media users to follow his wife’s official page.
“Let us follow my wife, First Lady Liza Marcos, on social media. Follow her official Facebook page,” he wrote in the post.
Marcos also thanked those who continue to support and trust him.
“Thank you for all your endless love and support,” he said.
In the “About” section, Araneta-Marcos described herself as “the spouse of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.” and “the First Lady of the Philippines.”
She also described herself as a “lawyer, professor, devoted wife and a mother of three sons.”
Luncheons
The recent public engagement posted on Araneta-Marcos’ Facebook page was the luncheon hosted for Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian on 4 August.
Huang expressed that he is grateful for Araneta-Marcos’s invitation to the Malacañang Palace.
“It is a great honor to visit Malacanang Palace. Thank you, Madam First Lady, for the extraordinary luncheon and warm hospitality,” he wrote in a social media post.
The First Lady also shared the separate luncheon she hosted for the resident lady Ambassadors to the Philippines last week.
The luncheon was held on 3 August at the Rizal Hall at the Malacañang Palace.
It was the first official function of Araneta-Marcos as the First Lady of the Philippines.
Clad in a blue modern terno, Araneta-Marcos took this opportunity to thank the envoys for supporting her husband’s administration.
“Thank you for supporting my husband’s administration and I hope we get to do this more often,” she told the ambassadors during the luncheon.
US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Loss Carlson, Austria Ambassador Bita Rasoulian, Denmark Ambassador Grete Sillasen, France Ambassador Michèle Jeannine Andrèe Boccoz, Germany Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel and the Netherlands Charge D’ Affaires Monica Theodora Geertruida van Daalen attended the luncheon.
Also present were Nigeria Ambassador Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye, Panama Charge D’ Affaires Lhuana Pamella Lopez Amorim, Papua New Guinea Ambassador Betty Palaso, South Africa Ambassador Bartinah Ntombizodwa Radebe-Netshitenzhe, Sri Lanka Ambassador Shobini Kaushala Gunasekera, and Sweden Ambassador Annika Gunilla Thunborg.
Also with them are Presidential Social Secretary Bianca Cristina Cardenas Zobel.
Aside from the meals, Araneta-Marcos gave the lady ambassadors a tour around the Palace.
The First Lady also prepared a “surprise number” for them, showcasing traditional Filipino dances.
The Simeona F. Chanyungco Lahing Kayumanggi Mananayaw ng Marikina Inc. performed to entertain the envoys.
The dancers also taught them to dance the traditional Filipino dance “Tinikling”.
For their part, the lady ambassadors thanked Araneta-Marcos for taking the time to organize the luncheon.
“I really appreciate the atmosphere here of women supporting other women in important roles. That’s why we’re so honored to be here as per your first official engagement here, supporting you as a very important woman in this country, quite frankly in this region and globe,” Carlson told Araneta-Marcos.
“It is a very challenging position to take up so we’re really grateful for the opportunity to be here and grateful for the opportunity to support each other.”
Rasoulian said she is grateful for the hospitality extended to them by the First Lady.
“I would like to express our gratitude on behalf of the diplomatic community of lady ambassadors. We are very grateful that you have taken the time today to be with us, to share this afternoon with us for your most gracious hospitality,” she said.
