Senator Imee has Covid-19

Senator Imee Marcos has tested positive for Covid-19, Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri announced Monday.

During the roll call in the plenary session, Zubiri said that Senator Marcos was not among the 22 senators physically present.

“Sen. Marcos who for the record had written to us that she was tested positive for Covid-19 is asking that she shouldn’t have to be on camera,” he said.

The Senate chief said that the eldest sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who himself just recovered from the same respiratory disease, is experiencing a raging fever.

Imee, who responded to the roll call, greeted her fellow lawmakers and said that she was listening in the session.

“I’m listening and I hope to see you very soon,” she said.

Imee is the second senator who contracted Covid-19 since the 19th Congress opened last 25 July.

Last week, returning Senator Alan Peter Cayetano announced that he tested positive for Covid-19 after he underwent an antigen test.
