Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released an additional P2 billion to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to assist those individuals “in crisis situations.”
In a press statement Tuesday, the DBM said Secretary Amenah Pangandaman approved the release of a Special Allotment Release Order on Monday.
“State funds should benefit people in their hour of needs. The release of this fund is a big help to our kababayans who are caught in difficult situation,” Pangandaman said.
“The timing is good for the additional funds. We want to help the DSWD so it can provide help and protection for families in need.”
The DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) forms part of the Protective Services for Individuals and Families in Difficult Circumstances.
AICS is a provision of integrated services, which include financial assistance for transportation, medical, burial, food, and other support services, which are given to individuals and families in a crisis situation.
As of 30 June, the AICS program served over 1.5 million individuals exceeding its annual target of around 1.4 million.
Around 642,348 remaining clients are projected for 2022.
