San Bartolome Church designated a cultural treasure

The National Museum of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Diocese of Kalookan, designated on Thursday the San Bartolome Church in Malabon City as an Important Cultural Treasure.

A simple ceremony was held at the patio of the 408-year-old church to mark the historic event attended by local church, public and private sector personalities.

San Bartolome’s parishioners are celebrating their feast day on 24 August.

Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval was among those who lifted the veil off the dedication plaque awarded by the NHP.

The recognition would assure the government’s assistance in protecting, maintaining and developing the church as a cultural treasure of Malabon in accordance with Republic Act 10066 or the Cultural Heritage Act.
