The local government of Cainta, Rizal is offering psychosocial services to residents who may be dealing with depression and other mental health concerns.
According to former Cainta mayor and now municipal administrator Keith Nieto, the trauma caused by the pandemic is still felt by many up to this day, saying psychosocial interventions are very crucial to address mental health problems.
“Sometimes, we only think about the physical needs, that if we feed them, then that’s okay. We will also focus on the psychological needs of the people. That is also important,” Nieto said in a social media post.
“Whether it’s an issue of love, money, or trauma, they need a government to approach to help them treat this” the former mayor added.
Nieto said he will lay out a program next week to reduce the incidence of suicides.
