The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday said that they are set to submit the documents pertaining to the fast transmission of the 2022 election results to the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee next week.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in an interview that the documents will be submitted by Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo.
“Do not worry. All data that they requested will be given,” Laudiangco told a television interview.
The election commission previously stated that the faster transmission of this year’s poll results was due to improved facilities.
Laudiangco stated that the Comelec was not concealing anything from the public, stating that the joint committee was required by law to receive the documents before making them public to other parties.
“There is no hidden data and all will be released,” he said.
Former poll watchdog National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections officials and former Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Eliseo Rio Jr. have asked the Comelec to explain the rapid transmission of national and local election results in May 2022, which they claim could indicate irregularity.
The official made the assurance in the aftermath of a fire at the poll body’s IT department in Intramuros, Manila, earlier this month.
