A total of 3,484 fresh Covid-19 cases were detected in the Philippines on Monday, bringing the total active cases to 38,983 and the total nationwide tally since the start of the pandemic to 3,835,422.
The Department of Health said an additional 4,473 individuals recovered from the virus, thus the decrease in active infections after three straight days of being at more than 40,000.
Total recoveries are at 3,735,362, while total death toll hit 61,078 with 42 new fatalities.
Metro Manila had the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days with 15,888; followed by CALABARZON with 10,148; and Central Luzon with 5,276.
Western Visayas logged 2,823 cases while Cagayan Valley reported 2,388 fresh infections. The health department said 16,131 individuals were tested for the coronavirus on Sunday, August 14.
