Pampering pets

Pets are such crucial companions. This was apparent during the isolation and social distancing caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Pets play such a huge role in people’s lives and mental health,” said Karen Ray, director of Club VIP at Winthrop Center.

Ray launched her pet care service in Boston’s North End, a venture that formed and blossomed after she started looking after her friends’ pets. Since then, Ray has provided full-service pet care throughout the neighborhood.

With years of experience at hand, Ray is leading Winthrop Center’s Club VIP (“Very Important Pets”), a full-service, pet concierge services that will be exclusive to residents and office workers of the forthcoming Boston mixed-use tower slated for occupancy in early 2023.

A total of 6,500 square feet of the building will be dedicated to the exclusive pet program.

To ensure that Winthrop Center pets stay active and well-socialized while their owners are away, Club VIP will provide daycare and playgroup sessions, private city walks, individual ball play with options for private and group training activities.

Off-site retreats, dog and puppy training, service dog training, aggression training, agility training, and training for AKC K Good Citizen Certification and other grooming services are also available.

“Club VIP will be a gamechanger for residents looking to access everything under one roof, including spa and grooming services and protected areas for dogs to run, exercise, and play. With the inclement winter weather in Boston, this will be a huge plus,” Ray said in a statement.

To further enhance the pets’ health, Club VIP is highlighting its pet physical therapy and rehabilitation, deep tissue massage, stretch therapy, Reiki with aromatherapy, yoga classes, sensitivity therapy paw massage, and laser therapy designed to reduce pain and inflammation of arthritis in dogs.

“When a dog is well-socialized, well-exercised and cared for, the health and happiness of that pet is therapeutic to its owner. Club VIP allows owners to pamper their pets and extend their lives just as they seek that level of wellness and personal care for themselves,” Ray said.

Winthrop Center, the latest residential development in Boston, features 510,000 square feet of residential space including 317 luxury residences with energy-efficient appliances and access to nutritional and fitness amenities. It also boasts 812,000 square feet of Global Class A office space, the world’s largest office building to seek Passive House certification, the most energy efficient solution for large-scale buildings.

To implement this unprecedented level of pet care in an industry-leading project like Winthrop Center is a dream come true,” Ray added.
