The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported on Monday that there is an upwelling of hot volcanic liquids anew in the main crater lake of Taal Volcano in Batangas province.
Based on its latest advisory, Phivolcs said Taal Volcano spewed a sulfur dioxide flux of 4,827 tons/day on Sunday, higher than its 3,945 tons/day spewed on Saturday.
Phivolcs said voluminous plumes reaching up to 2,000 meters high, which drifted to the northeast and general southwest, were likewise recorded.
Aside from emitted plumes, a volcanic smog or vog surrounding the Taal volcano was also observed.
There was a “slight inflation” of the Taal Volcano Island and Western Taal Caldera, with a “deflation” recorded in Eastern Taal Caldera.
Phivolcs warned the public that entering its TVI or permanent danger zone, especially in the main crater and Daang Kastila fissures remain prohibited. Occupying and boating within Taal lake are also not allowed.
