ZAMBOANGA CITY — A juvenile flying lemur locally known as “Kagwang” was recovered and released near the Zamboanga City Forest Conservation Site in Barangay Upper Pasonanca here by the Community of Environment and Natural Resources Office of Zamboanga City.
CENRO officer in Charge Jaime Salvador said that a certain Sheila May Ejansantos recovered last week the lemur near their residence located at Kilometer 7 in Upper Pasonanca.
Salvador said the flying lemur was seen by Ejansantos gliding from tree to tree within their community and was about to be captured by their neighbors, which prompted her to rescue the wildlife and reported it to the DENR Protected Area Manage and Biodiversity Conservation Unit.
He added that PAMBCU personnel immediately visited the residence of Ejansantos and retrieved from her the flying lemur.
