An alleged drug syndicate member and a cohort were arrested with more than half a million worth of illegal drugs in Navotas City on Friday.

Col. Dexter Ollaging, Navotas City Police chief, identified the suspects as Roberto Huelba alias Kevin Huelba/Mucho, 25, No. 1 most wanted person and member of the Legaspi Drug Group, and Jaymee Dionisio, 42, both residents of the city.

Police reportedly conducted a buy-bust operation at around 2:20 a.m. along Judge Roldan St., Barangay San Roque, where an undercover cop bought P5,000 worth of marijuana from the duo.

The suspects were collared after accepting the marked money from the poseur buyer in exchange for a transparent plastic cling-wrapped marijuana.

Confiscated from the duo were approximately 4,300 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a street value of P516,000, more or less 17 grams of suspected shabu with a value of P115,600, buy-bust money, a cellphone, digital weighing scale and a sling bag, while a grenade and a .38 caliber revolver loaded with four bullets were recovered from Huelba.

The suspects are now facing charges of violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, while Huelba will face additional charges of violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, and RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives.
