Because its big stars like Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Sarah Geronimo, and Julia Barretto are either not ready or are unwilling to work on more teleserye, it’s Lovi Poe, Janine Gutierrez, Kyle Echarri, and other younger artists that ABS-CBN has given such projects.
Poe currently stars with Piolo Pascual, Paulo Avelino, Jo-em Bascon, JC de Vera, Denise Laurel and Sue Ramirez in Flower of Evil.

What’s more, Poe and Gutierrez team up in a queer love story, Sleep with Me, airing on ABS-CBN’s international platform iWantTFC.
Gutierrez’s character is wheelchair-bound, late-night radio DJ, while Poe’s is afflicted with a sleep disorder.
It’s supported by a cast of indie talents, namely: Enzo Almario, Kerwin King, Gelai Penales, and Nour Hooshmand, all proud members of the LGBTQIA community.
The series is directed by Samantha Lee who has never hidden her being a lesbian despite her feminine looks and refined ways. Her movies, Baka Bukas (2016) and Billie and Emma (2018), are about women openly in love with each other.
Echarri was part of the Golden Squad artists, along with Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelyn who starred in Kadenang Ginto series a few years back.
Presently Echarri stars in the iWantTFC series Beach Bros, launched in July. He also plays a major role in Lyric & Beat, a musical starring former real-life sweethearts Brillantes and Fedelyn.
Beach Bros is about young men and women living and working in a beach resort in Baler, Quezon.
To bolster his mature image, Echarri stars opposite Chie Filomena, who was discovered in Pinoy Big Brother. She portrays a mysterious seductress overstaying in the resort. ABS-CBN seems bent on molding her into a sexy star — and she loves it.
Poe, Gutierrez and Echarri have all the chances to shine on free TV. And it’s really about time these young stars move up.
For now, all eyes are on ABS-CBN talent Jane de Leon as the new Pinoy super heroine Darna.
