UDM studes receive allowance

Students of Manila-run college school Universidad de Manila will be receiving their May and June monthly cash allowance.

This is after Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna signed the release which will benefit college students and senior high schools enrolled in the free tuition fee school.

Lacuna said the total recipients of the monthly cash allowance are 11,161 college students and 580 senior high school students in all, both from the UDM.

According to the mayor, the said cash aid for the students is aimed at somehow helping them with their daily needs.

Lacuna said all that the city government is asking in return is for the said students to make sure that they study really hard.

She stressed that getting a college degree is the only key to having a better life for the students themselves and their respective families as well.

Education remains top agenda

She added this is the reason for the city government of Manila then and now to be fully behind its two educational institutions, namely UDM headed by its president Felma Tria, and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

Meanwhile, Lacuna reminded the students, especially the graduates, to make sure that they thank their families or guardians who have supported them with their studies.

The college students receive P1,000 monthly allowance from the city while the SHS students get P500 also every month. The grant of such financial aid is part of the city government’s social amelioration program for which a budget of about P117 million had been allotted.
