Senate President Miguel Zubiri announced on 19 August that the Senate building in Pasay City will be on total lockdown, after seven senators contracted Covid-19.
The Covid-positive senators are Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Joel Villanueva, JV Ejercito and Nancy Binay.
“I have instructed the Secretariat to conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfection of all Senate offices. For this reason, there will be a total lockdown of our Senate building and all Senate employees shall work from home and need not report to the Senate on 22 August,” said Zubiri.
He added the Senate sessions will resume on 23 August.
