It’s showtime for June Mar

June Mar Fajardo is thrilled to flaunt his might as he gets another shot at glory when San Miguel Beer battles Meralco in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) best-of-seven finals series.

The 6-foot-10 behemoth is all fired up to bang bodies with TNT Tropang Giga’s top big men and prove that he is still the most dominant slotman in the league.

“We are very happy that we’re in the finals again because we’ve missed it for many years,” said Fajardo, who is tipped to muscle his way against Tropang Giga bigs like Kelly Williams, Poy Erram and Dave Marcelo.

“We know that it’s not easy to win the championship but we’re already here.”

Also, being in the finals is a personal challenge for Fajardo.

After winning eight titles from 2014 to 2019, the 32-year-old Cebuano’s run was cut short by a gruesome right tibia fracture that stalled him for at least a season.

He made his return in 2021, but the Beermen failed to make the finals for two conferences.

At the start of the Philippine Cup, Fajardo organized a charity drive that has already amounted to at least P200,000.

His lethal form even allowed him to become the frontrunner in the Best Player of the Conference race with averages of 18.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, leading over teammate CJ Perez, Mikey Williams and reigning Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson.

With the momentum on his side, Fajardo believes there’s no other direction for him and his squad but to go up and win the coveted title.

“As long as we follow the game plan of our coaches, we always have the chance to win,” Fajardo said
