Honda Cars Philippines Inc. continues its advocacy for the youth and community safety, this time through the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela. For this, HCPI recently provided health and safety materials and equipment to Don Jose Integrated Highschool in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, as students and teachers anticipate the resumption of face-to-face classes.
Themed “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-aral,” the program aims to ensure that schools are safe and prepared for the reopening of in-person classes. HCPI supported by providing essential health and safety supplies such as non-contact thermal scanners, cleaning tools, disinfectants, and medical supplies to keep both students and teachers safe from the lingering risks of Covid-19.
Also known as the “National Schools’ Maintenance Week,” Brigada Eskwela serves as a venue for public schools, parents, and other members of the community to come together as partners in preparing school facilities for the students as they enter a new school year.
Honda has been a program partner since 2008, providing assistance to 18 schools near HCPI’s Laguna office through the giving of Education TV packages, clinic, school, and dental supplies, wash and drinking facilities, locker cabinets, disaster preparedness kits, and computers, among others, to help improve the tools and learning environment for the students.
“We congratulate the Brigada Eskwela partners and coordinators for your dedication through the years. This community is much like our home, and it is the members’ shared responsibility to protect the safety and well-being of the next generation. HCPI is always grateful for opportunities to help in activities such as this,” HCPI executive vice president, Vicenta Balarbar said during the turnover ceremony.
The event was also attended by Don Jose Integrated Highschool representatives: Catherine Javier, Principal I; Arlene Gaspard, Brigada Eskwela coordinator and Patria Aclo, Adopt-a-School coordinator.
