Missing ‘sabungeros’ search continues

The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group reaffirmed its commitment to continue the probe on the 34 cockfighting aficionados who have been missing since last year.
The assurance was given following reports that the victims’ families have been receiving cash offers just to stop pursuing the case and search.

The CIDG said it is waiting for the resolution of the two incidents filed before the Department of Justice, namely the Manila Arena case against eight individuals and several John Does, and the Ricardo Lasco abduction case against five police personnel and other John Does.

PNP chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said, “We trust in the leadership of the newly installed director of the CIDG, P/Brig. General Ronald Lee. He can motivate his personnel to continue with the cases and arrest the perpetrators of these incidents.”

The PNP is in constant coordination with the victims’ kin to assure them the cases and investigations are moving forward.
