P170-M shabu confiscated

Quezon City police seized P170 million worth of illegal drugs during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay San Antonio on Wednesday morning.

Arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Quezon City Police District was Rodgene Umali, 36.

Taken from his possession were 25.5 kilograms of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth P173,400,000, along with nine bundles of boodle money.

P/Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, National Capital Region Police Office acting regional director, said, “Let’s continue our campaign against illegal drugs. I thank our troops under the leadership of QCPD chief P/Brig. General Nicolas Torre III, PDEA and operatives here. We are begging all those involved in illegal drugs, let’s stop it.”

Estomo stressed the public can expect more big-time arrests during his stint as NCRPO regional director.

“Expect more arrests like what I said from the start. Our former president started well, and under our new president it will continue,” he added.

Umali is currently under police custody and faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
