‘Florita’ hits 438 villages

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Friday disclosed that the number of villages affected by severe tropical storm “Florita” rose to 438 villages and displaced a total of 17,510 families.

Based on its latest situational report, NDRRMC said the affected families are equivalent to 71,466 residing in areas of Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Cordillera Administrative Region and the National Capital Region.

Some 776 families or 3,700 individuals are currently staying in 37 evacuation centers with the rest are either sheltered by relatives or friends.

NDRRMC confirmed only two fatalities, one each in Cagayan Valley and CAR while confirmed injuries are at three in Cagayan Valley.

The 12 roads and three bridges remain non-passable, with 22 towns in the affected regions still experiencing a power outage and two towns having no water supply.

The agency also reported a total of 30 houses are partially damaged in Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley and three were totally destroyed.

An estimated P3.4 million in Agriculture damage was recorded in Ilocos Region while the infrastructure damage in Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley has reached some P33.7 million.
