Bong Go aids Negros typhoon, fire victims

Sen. Bong Go’s office collaborated with various government agencies on 24 and 25 August, to conduct relief operations for victims of Typhoon “Odette” víctims in Bais City, Negros Oriental,
and fire in Tanjay City.

Go also urged local government officials to supplement such efforts, emphasizing the critical role they play in meeting the needs of their residents.

“Mga kababayan, magtulungan, magmalasakit at magbayanihan tayo sa ating kapwa. Huwag tayo mawalan ng pag-asa dahil nandito ang gobyernong palaging nagmamalasakit sa inyo,” Go said in a video message.

“Pakiusap ko sa mga mayor at kapitan, huwag niyong pabayaan ang mga kabarangay niyo, lalung-lalo na ‘yung mga mahihirap, dahil kayo lang ang matatakbuhan nila.”

Go’s team provided snacks and masks to 1,000 typhoon victims at the Cultural and Heritage Center in Bais City and to the five families affected by the fire incident at the barangay hall of Brgy. 9 in Tanjay City.

In addition, the fire victims received grocery packs. The team also gave select individuals new pairs of shoes or computer tablets for their children’s educational needs.

In a separate distribution, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial aid.
