BAGUIO CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation Cordillera promises heightened alertness versus women and children trafficking and other forms of scams in the highland region.
Newly-installed NBI-Cordillera regional director Janet Francisco, the first-ever woman regional director in the highland region, is leading the drive.
Francisco headed the Anti-Human Trafficking Division of the NBI before getting re-assigned as regional director in the Cordillera by newly-appointed NBI Director Medardo de Lemos last week.
Franciso, together with her newly-installed assistant regional director lawyer Joel Tubera vows to welcome information on all crimes, big or small, for the Bureau to verify and build up into cases.
We will direct our agents to gather information and verify initial data on crimes unto women and children, including those committed via online platforms, she stressed.
She gave the assurance that they will act immediately on the information given to them.
Francisco also hinted that they are building up cases on the reported proliferation of investment scams in the highland region and promised a crackdown in due time.
