Insurgents’ lair in Nueva Ecija discovered

FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA — Two alleged lairs for members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-Terrorist was recently discovered by authorities between the town boundaries of Gabaldon and General Tinio here.

According to 91st Infantry Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Julito Recto Jr., his troops along with the 2nd Special Action Battalion and the Special Action Force conducted a focused military operation in the aforementioned area.

Recto said that the hideout is estimated to have been occupied for at least one week ago by more or less seven communist members who are believed to be remnants of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla-Sierra Madre believed to be already dismantled.

He added that the troops further discovered suspected enemy tracking that led them to a larger hideout of the group the next day, which was estimated to have been occupied for at least three days ago that can accommodate 20 rebel members.

Recto lauded the unveiling of the lairs of CNT and emphasize that it is strong evidence that the campaign against terrorism is very effective and the remaining rebel members are becoming weaker and weaker.

Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division reassured that this will be a motivation in becoming more determined to end the local armed conflict in the Area of Responsibility of the 7ID.
