PILAR, Bataan — A freak accident claimed the life of the town’s police chief after he accidentally shot himself on Monday morning.
Bataan police director Col. Romelle Velasco identified the victim as pMaj Rizaldy Rubio, a native of Barangay Tapulao, Orani town.
Initial reports disclosed that the incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. on Monday inside the house of the victim.
Velasco said the killing of the chief of police is under investigation.
Reports also disclosed that a phone call was received by duty desk officer of Orani PNP station from the wife’s victim identified as May Rubio, who reported that she heard a gunshot outside of their room.
Police said that when his wife checked it, she saw the bloody body of her husband with a bullet wound at his right abdomen.
The victim was immediately rushed to Orani District Hospital for medical attention but was declared dead at 4:50 a.m. by the attending physician.
