3 dead within hours in Manila

The bodies of a woman and two men were found within hours of one another in Quiapo and Sampaloc, Manila on Tuesday, the Manila Police District reported.

The MPD homicide section retrieved at about 2:30 a.m. the body of one Violeta Dasal, 49, beside the Metrobank Building at Palanca Street, Quiapo.

By 3:15 a.m., the lifeless body of a man, described by the police only as dark-skinned, frail, and between 60 to 70 years old, was also found in front of the Extreme Photo Shop at Hidalgo Street.

About 12 hours since the body of Dasal was found, 63-year-old Nestor Nieves was found lifeless at Room D of the Winnie Joy Dormitory at J. Figueras Street in Sampaloc, Manila.

Nieves was last seen alive at around 3 p.m. Sunday complaining of stomach ache. The other two fatalities were said to be street dwellers.

A cursory investigation of the cadavers by police first responders did not turn up anything suspicious about the deaths. However, the bodies were brought to the Cruz Funeral for the mandatory autopsy and safekeeping.
