Baguio cautions vs infections anew

BAGUIO CITY — The local government here stressed that while active Covid-19 cases have decreased, the public should remain vigilant as the cases could go back up again due to face-to-face school classes.

Public information office chief Aileen Refuerzo said that the city’s Covid-19 case monitoring on Monday showed that while 15 new cases have been recorded, 34 patients have recovered, bringing down the number of active cases to 208.

The number was lower than a week ago, on 23 August when 293 active cases were logged, including 35 new cases at the time. A week before that, the city had 324 active cases with the addition of 70 new cases that day.

A total of 257 reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and antigen tests were done on Monday.

The healthcare utilization rate is at 14.78 percent with 56 of the 379 Covid-19 beds in use. Of the number, seven of the 44 intensive care unit beds and 49 of the 335 non-ICU beds are occupied.
