The administration of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., led by the economic team, will come with a six-year Philippine Development Plan 2022-2028 that will basically transform exports from low-value commodities and intermediate goods to industrial products and high-skilled services.
Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Fred Pascual said during the 3rd Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc.’s General Membership Meeting on Wednesday that the PDP 2023-2028 shall provide a roadmap toward unlocking sustained and inclusive growth despite the challenges brought by health, geopolitical, and other economic shocks.
The National Economic and Development Authority was tasked to spearhead the plan’s formulation, oversee its implementation, and periodically report to the President and the cabinet on its progress.
“Our new direction is headed toward complete data analytics, stronger and wider stakeholder engagement, product and market, and proactive legislative agenda. The Department of Trade and Industry will support development through priority clusters, namely the industrial manufacturing and transport cluster, technology, media and telecommunication cluster, health and life sciences cluster, and resource-based cluster,” Pascual said.
