Cameron Diaz: What it’s like to be ‘back in action’

“Back in action” captures what Cameron Diaz is up to these days — after an eight-year absence onscreen.

While in hiatus, the San Diego-born actor with Cuban roots became a wellness advocate, publishing two health books, and investing in health and biotech startups.

Now the once sought-after movie star — whose last project was playing Miss Hannigan in the 2014 film adaptation of Annie — returns with an action-comedy movie Back in Action, co-starring with Jamie Fox, with Seth Gordon directing.

On 16 September, Diaz guested on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and described whether it feels easy or difficult to be on old stomping grounds.

“I’m both. It’s a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean? I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process — I just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different,” Diaz, 50, said.

Back in Action marks the the third time she’s working with Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx.

“I’ve made two movies with Jamie Foxx, which is amazing. The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and now it’s with Jamie,” Diaz said.

In June, Foxx posted on Twitter a recorded phone conversation with Diaz announcing their project.

“He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented. And just to work with him, it’ll be so much fun,” she said.

For now, Back in Action is still in development.
