Bogus DSWD staff caught victimizing 4Ps beneficiaries

Police arrested a bogus employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development who allegedly swindled applicants of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in an entrapment operation in Caloocan City on Wednesday morning.

Newly-appointed Caloocan City Police chief P/Col. Ferdinand del Rosario identified the suspect as Myra Mangitngit, 43.

Operatives of Station Intelligence Unit led by P/Maj. John David Chua arrested Mangitngit in front of her house in Barangay 12 at around 9:30 a.m. after receiving marked money from an undercover cop who posed as a 4Ps applicant.

Del Rosario said the operation stemmed from the complaint filed by two 4Ps Product Development Officers of Navotas City after they learned that applicants were being asked by the suspect, who presented herself as a DSWD employee, to pay the P3,050 for the processing of documents and other expenses for them to qualify as a beneficiary.

Authorities recovered from the suspect marked money worth P3,050 and the cop’s bio-data.

Mangitngit will be charged with syndicated estafa through swindling and usurpation of authority.
