SC cries foul over judge endangerment

The Supreme Court lambasted the statement made by former spokesperson for the government’s anti-communist task force Lorraine Badoy against a Manila court judge who junked the government’s proscription case.

In Tuesday’s high court’s en banc deliberation, the justices motu propio deliberated on A.M. No. 22-09-16-SC, where Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 19 Judge Marlo Magdoza-Malagar took the brunt of Badoy’s tirades.

“The court sternly warns those who continue to incite violence through social media and other means which endanger the lives of judges and their families, and that this shall likewise be considered a contempt of this Court and will be dealt with accordingly,” said the SC statement.

To recall, Badoy — in her Facebook post last 23 September — blasted Magdoza -Malagar for dismissing the government’s proscription case against the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army.
