Five solar pump projects completed

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — The Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems disclosed that it has completed the construction of five solar pump irrigation projects which will provide water irrigation to some 377 hectares of farmlands in Central Luzon.

UPRIIS manager Engr. Rosalinda Bote said that the the five solar pump irrigation projects will provide efficient, effective and sustainable irrigation services to the more than 500 farmer beneficiaries of the agency.

She added that aside from the five completed, eight more solar pump irrigation projects are still being constructed, with all the projects funded under the General Appropriations Act for 2022 and have a total allocation of P180.68-million.

Among the completed projects include the P9.23 million Solar Power-Driven Pump Irrigation Project at Talavera, Nueva Ecija under Division II; P14.19 million Solar Powered Pump in Gapan, Nueva Ecija; P15.23 million Solar Powered Pump in San Miguel, Bulacan and P14.98 million Solar Powered Pump in San Ildefonso, Bulacan all accomplished by Division IV.

Bote said that the Division V of the UPRIIS completed the P4.69 million Solar Power-Driven Pump at Bagong Sikat, San Jose, Nueva Ecija.

“As UPRIIS ventures into climate-resilient facilities towards tail-end service areas that sights the augmentation of water requirement thru water reuse at no cost to farmers’ operations input, the agency extends establishment of Solar Powered Pumps within the current year from its pioneer projects last year,” Bote said.

The UPRIIS is following the National Irrigation Administration’s thrust to foster proficiency and resiliency for proficient irrigation service through innovations and modernizations.
