Cebu province raises alarm vs illegal drugs

The provincial government of Cebu has declared “a total all-out war on drugs in the province, its component cities and municipalities” during the Provincial Development Council of Cebu meeting recently.

Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia stressed that they are intensifying the battle against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province, as there were information that there is an alarming rise of illegal drugs supply.

She also encouraged the province’s chief executives and other government officials to help the province’s fight against illegal drugs.

“I hope all mayors and officials of our national government agencies will join me here in this declaration of the Province of Cebu: total, all-out war against drugs,” she said.

Meantime, the Cebu Police Provincial Office has called the attention of 10 chiefs of police about their poor performance in the campaigns against illegal drugs and illegal gambling.

Colonel Rommel Ochave, CPPO officer-in-charge, has ordered them to intensify their operations, according to Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, deputy director for operation of the CPPO.

“Ten stations where being called by me personally. We just had our coordinating conference yesterday and we directed them. We told them about our plans and programs that will help them go forward and really improve their deficiencies,” Sucalit said.
