The local government of Quezon City announced on Wednesday that the private contractor working on the city’s housing project where the scaffolding collapsed and killed one worker and injured several others has halted its operations to give way to the investigation being conducted by police authorities.
In a statement, the Quezon City LGU said that the project’s contractor A dela Cruz Builders has stopped its operations in the area while investigations on the incident are ongoing.
According to the Quezon City Police District, the incident happened at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the construction site along Sto. Cristo Street, in Barangay Balingasa.
Reports disclosed that a metal scaffolding suddenly collapsed and fell on the workers and one worker — identified as Francis Anzures, a resident of Barangay Baesa in the city, was confirmed dead.
Also injured in the incident were identified as Jerick Medino, Mark Dave Asis, Reynante Mandak, Junrey Acoymo, Jayson Rebalga, Jerald Silvio, Jorie Modesto, Emmil Medino, Rainwick Gallo, all construction workers — and Renato Gallo, who was identified as the foreman.
