Kidnapped MSU student rescued

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Police and military authorities rescued a student of the Mindanao State University who was believed to be kidnapped on Monday and brought to El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.

Police Regional Office for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao director P/Brig.Gen. John Gano Guyguyon disclosed that the victim was kidnapped in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur on Monday.

Guyguyon said that elements of Tugaya Municipal Police Station immediately formed a rescue team to rescue the victim following the report and a dragnet operation was set up, which resulted in the successful rescue of the victim at El Salvador.

The PRO-BAR official, however, declined to identify the rescued victim but claimed she is now reunited with her family after undergoing a debriefing procedure conducted by the police.

The suspect was identified as Abdul Atag Tawano.

According to Guyguyon, closed-circuit television footage was used to identify the suspect and the vehicle used during the abduction.

Tawano and the recovered vehicle are now in the custody of Tugaya MPS for filing of appropriate charges.
