100 days not PBBM leadership benchmark — Panelo

It’s too early to measure the success of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s leadership after only 100 days in office, according to former presidential legal counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo.

“Actually 100 days is masyadong maikli para sukatin ang tagumpay ng isang administrasyon masyadong maiksi yun (Actually, 100 days is too short to measure the success of an administration),” Pandelo said in an exclusive interview over the Daily Tribune’s “Gising Na!” news show on Friday,

Panelo also said there is a need for the media to regularly observe and criticize the administration.

“Ang media nakakatulong sa presidente. Kapag hindi mo ito binanatan, hindi niya malalaman kung tama siya o mali. Baka maniwala siya nasa tama siya dahil walang pumupuna sa kanya (The media can help the president because if you won’t criticize he won’t know that he’s right or wrong. He might believe that he’s always right if no one will criticize),” Panelo said.

During the President’s Night organized by the Manila Overseas Press Club held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City on Wednesday, Marcos said, “I think what we have managed to do in the first 100 days is put together a government that is functional and which has a very, very good idea of what we are targeting in terms of strict economic targets, for example, in terms of the numbers of growth, the numbers of our different measures, the different metrics that we are using for the economy.”
