Congress puts up P5M reward to catch Percy Lapid killer

The House of Representatives is offering a P5-million reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the killing of radio broadcaster Percival Mabasa, more popularly known as Percy Lapid, House Speaker Martin Romualdez announced on 9 October.

The money would come from the personal contributions of House members who were shocked and disturbed by the killing, said Romualdez.

“We view with concern the killing of Percy Mabasa. The perpetrators and the masterminds behind this dastardly act must be brought to justice at all costs,” he said in a statement.

He pointed out the government views journalists as partners in nation-building and their role is crucial in promoting transparency in government.

Lapid was gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants in Las Piñas City on 3 October.
