EPD chief assures media safety

Newly-installed Eastern Police District Director Col. Wilson Asueta said they are seriously and strongly guarding the safety of media workers and journalists covering events within their area of responsibility.

Asueta met with media men to give them the assurance that they are protected under his watch.

“We want to assure our media friends that they are secured here,” Asueta, a lawyer, told members of the PaMaMariSan-Rizal Press Corps over the weekend.

“We will protect you, especially in your job to express and to bring news to the public about what is happening around us,” the EPD chief added.

Asueta also assured that the freedom of the press is being protected where journalists can freely report or write the news.

“Rest assured we will always be your safety once you are in my area of responsibility. So, we will not allow them to commit crimes against our media practitioners,” he said.
