VP Sara lauded for F2F resumption

House Speaker Martin Romualdez couldn’t help but praise Vice President Sara Duterte, who marked her 100th day in office on Friday.

The Speaker was one of Duterte’s two campaign managers during the campaign for the 2022 polls, which she won by a landslide last May.

Romualdez is the president of Lakas-CMD, the party Duterte co-chairs.

“As concurrent Secretary of the Department of Education, VP Sara led the DepEd in the historic resumption of face-to-face classes of students nationwide after over two years of lockdown and online schooling, a feat that is very difficult to accomplish,” said the Leyte solon.

He also congratulated the VP for successfully implementing pro-poor programs, including the Libreng Sakay, extending medical and burial assistance to the indigents, and distributing school supplies and hygiene kits to deserving students.

Putting safety measures and health protocols in place for students, teachers, and school personnel, according to Romualdez, was made possible by Duterte’s strong leadership and political will.

For Albay Rep. Joey Salceda, the VP’s most important accomplishment is resuming face-to-face classes, which is critical for alleviating the learning issue and restoring a sense of normalcy to the economy.

“I offer to my friend my continued encouragement. Education reform is a marathon, not a sprint. We will have to overcome decades of neglect in the education sector,” Salceda, also a Lakas-CMD member, said.
