F2 Logistics makes its return to the Premier Volleyball League in a showdown with a retooled Chery Tiggo in their Reinforced Conference opener Tuesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
After skipping the Invitational Conference, the Cargo Movers are back with their eyes set on re-establishing their position as one if not the best club league in the country.
Meanwhile, Petro Gazz and crowd-drawer Choco Mucho clash in the 5:30 p.m. main feature.
But F2 Logistics must first hurdle a familiar foe in the Crossovers, albeit parading new faces, in the 2:30 p.m. curtain-raiser.
Back in the fold for the Cargo Movers is reliable American import Lindsay Stalzer, the only returnee among the nine reinforcements, as well as Filipino-American outside spiker Kalei Mau.
They will have plenty of support from seasoned players in Kim Kianna Dy, Tin Tiamzon, skipper Aby Maraño, Majoy Baron, setter Kim Fajardo and multi-awarded libero Dawn Macandili.
New recruit middle Ivy Lacsina is also expected to make her presence felt at the frontline in F2 Logistics’ bid for redemption after a disappointing sixth placed finish in the season-opening Open Conference.
However, head coach Benson Bocboc admits that the Cargo Movers are coming in blind against Chery Tiggo, which underwent a major revamp.
“Chery made a lot of changes in their lineup, especially in the middle but most of their key players are still there. We also have to look at how their import will play but we have to do that real-time, on the spot,” Bocboc, who took the coaching cudgels from Ramil de Jesus, said.
“So have to make our adjustments during the game,” he added.
The Crossovers, who have released seven players after the Invitational Conference, tapped Montenegrin Jelena Cvijovic with locals Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Mylene Paat, EJ Laure, playmaker Jasmine Nabor and Shaya Adorador to back her up.
