Meycauayan-Marilao road rehab project completed

MARILAO, Bulacan — A P48-million road rehabilitation project was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office, providing ease of travel from Meycauayan to Marilao and vice versa.

District Engineer George Santos said that the completion of the P48-million asset preservation and preventive maintenance project has a total length of 3.052 kilometers, adding that the rehabilitation also involves concrete reblocking of damaged pavements, asphalt overlay and installation of thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure the safety of motorists.

“Paved roads provide numerous safety benefits for motorists and pedestrians and the completion of this project will also ease traffic congestion in the area,” Santos said.

Santos furthered that the project funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act was implemented to prevent the early deterioration of the concrete pavements of the access road that connects Bulacan’s industrial zones to the North Luzon Expressway.

Meanwhile, the DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office also completed the construction of a new 2-storey office building and the implementation of site development activities in their premises.

According to district Engineer Ulysses Llado, the newly constructed structure will serve as the permanent office of the Quality Assurance Section and will also house its Materials Laboratory.

“Upgrading and improving our physical facilities gives our employees a more pleasant and safer workplace. With our growing office population, we needed more space large enough to accommodate them all,” Llado explained.

The district Engineer added that having a good working environment has a positive effect on employee productivity, efficiency and well-being.

Included in the P40-million project funded under the 2022 national budget were the construction of a covered court and concrete fence, electrical works, and improvement of other facilities within the compound.
