Bash to bust

Police have different ways of catching crooks. A bungling fugitive demonstrated one that didn’t even make law enforcers sweat.

A British man who skipped a court hearing on his multiple assault case in August went straight into the welcoming arms of West Midlands police in grand fashion.

He absent-mindedly drove his £160,000 Bentley Bentayga SUV to the police station, The Sun reported, citing a Twitter post by the Erdington Policing Constituency.

The man’s arrest was even faster than the 306-kph speed of his luxury car. So was the seizure of the Bentley as the driver was also driving it without insurance cover, in violation of the law.

Moreover, the car was the subject of multiple speeding offenses across the United Kingdom, according to The Sun.

Other fugitives planning to hide indefinitely should not emulate Forenza Murphy.

The 31-year-old American escaped from a Connecticut Department of Corrections halfway house, where he was serving a four-year sentence for robbery, last 8 August.

His “freedom,” however, ended on 1 October because of his own undoing.

Police tracked Murphy at a house in McDonough, Georgia that day and promptly arrested him. The fugitive turned up at the place to celebrate his birthday with family, according to reports.

Murphy is not only back in jail. He will serve additional time for escaping.
