Dep-Ed launches ‘Balsa Aralan’

With the help of the local government of Balabac, Palawan, the Department of Education recently launched the “Balsa Aralan” program that aims to deliver hope and education, especially those from the far-flung areas, through access to digital learning for out-of-school youth and adults.

The Project BALSA or Boosting Access Literacy Services through Alternative Learning System features a two-story flat raft with instructional material and television sets for audio-visual presentations. It also has a toilet that can be used by the students and ALS teachers.

The “Balsa-Aralan” was designed to meet educational needs. It has a capacity to carry at least 30 or 50 students. Currently, there are 40 students enrolled under the Accreditation and Equivalency program.
