Bong Go assists fire victims in Quezon City

Sen. Bong Go’s team visited Quezon City to provide relief to families whose houses were damaged by a recent fire incident in Barangay Payatas.

On Thursday, 13 October, the senator’s team distributed relief items including grocery packs, shirts, snacks, and masks to 12 affected families at the Barangay Hall of Payatas Area A.

In a separate distribution, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended cash assistance to the families to help in their recovery.

Meanwhile, Go pushed for better fire prevention efforts from the government. He noted that the country needs more initiatives and measures like Republic Act No. 11589 or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act to further enhance the firefighting capability of the agency.

As mandated by the BFP Modernization Act, which Go primarily authored and co-sponsored, the bureau shall undergo a ten-year modernization program, which includes acquiring new modern fire equipment, hiring additional personnel, and providing specialized training for firefighters, among others.

In the end, Go thanked the local officials of Quezon City for providing their constituents with much-needed support.

Last October 5, the senator’s team also provided relief to fire victims in Brgy. Kamuning, Quezon City.
