DoH cites Taguig’s pandemic programs

The Department of Health has recognized the effectiveness of the health programs undertaken by the Taguig City local government unit during the Covid-19 pandemic.

DoH’s Metro Manila Center for Health Development feted Taguig during its 35th-anniversary celebration held at the Manila Hotel recognizing public and private sector efforts to combat Covid.

Taguig was cited for “its exemplary implementation of the non-communicable diseases prevention and control programs contributing to the decrease in premature deaths and burden of avoidable and chronic conditions in the National Capital Region.”

Dr. Norena Osano, head of the Taguig City Health Office, and Dr. Susana Amiscua received the plaque on behalf of the city.

She credited the efforts of city health workers in implementing non-communicable diseases programs on lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and cancers.

The LGU also received a plaque of appreciation “for its untiring support and contribution to the achievement of different health program goals and objectives towards the realization of Universal Health Care in the Region.”
