Chery Tiggo seeks solo lead

Games today:
(Philsports Arena)
2:30 p.m. — Chery Tiggo vs Akari
5:30 p.m. — Choco Mucho vs PLDT

Montenegrin import Jelena Cvijovic is due for a breakout performance and Chery Tiggo is hoping that it happens today when the Crossovers meet newcomer Akari in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference elimination round at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Aiming for a third win and the solo lead, Chery Tiggo continues to sizzle behind a cohesive local unit while keenly waiting for Cvijovic, a 6-1 outside hitter, to finally light up the Crossovers’ scoreboard.

Chery Tiggo’s first two wins came against F2 Logistics and Cignal HD with the group of skipper Mylene Paat, EJ Laure, Cza Carandang, Jasmine Nabor and libero Bea Duremdes sparkling like no other.

While Akari isn’t precisely in the mold of another early leader in Creamline, the spikers of Brazilian strategist Jorge Souza de Brito are not to be overlooked.

Parading import Prisilla Rivera of the Dominican Republic, Akari will also bank on Janine Mercado, Erika Raagas, Princess Madrigal, Genevieve Casugod and Michelle Cobb as the Power Chargers try to improve on their 1-1 slate in the 2:30 p.m. encounter.

In the other marquee matchup of the day’s double-header, Choco Mucho faces PLDT at 5:30 p.m. with the winner breaking away from a tight five-way logjam at third spot.

But Choco Mucho has some kind of momentum going after foiling F2 Logistics in a gripping four-set battle last 13 October with Odina Aliyeva, Kat Tolentino, Bea de Leon, Isa Molde, Des Cheng, Cherry Nunag, Maika Ortiz and setter Deana Wong ready to rise to the occasion.

PLDT’s prolific import Elena Samoilenko and locals Mika Reyes, Dell Palomata, Jules Samonte, Joy Soyud, Chin Basas, Fiola Ceballos and Jovie Prado are expected to be right there to put a stop to Choco Mucho’s advance.
