Taking natural beauty to the next level

Writers and specialists could go on and on about the need to lead a more sustainable lifestyle, or at least contribute to the Earth’s preservation. After all, we only have one livable planet.

It’s refreshing to come across a brand that not only offer products that can be considered as sustainable through its production, ingredients, or packaging, but also has its own movement where it sheds more light about the cause.

Davines, an Italian brand that carries top-quality hair care products, recently launched We Sustain Beauty, a movement that raises awareness for biodiversity and regenerative organic culture.

As part of the We Sustain Beauty movement, Davines offers a hair and body wash from its Essential Hair Care line with a manifesto on the label that mentions Davines’ commitment to climate activism.

What’s more, the brand has been advocating sustainability as a member of the B Corp Beauty Coalition since 2016. The B Corp Beauty Coalition is an organization that champions sustainable beauty by encouraging their consumers and partners to join the coalition as well.

The brand’s Sustainability Report (2021-2022) also shows flourishing rates.

Davines derives 99.7 percent of its electricity used at production plants from renewable sources.

They continue this effort by taking part in the Science Based Targets Initiative, an organization that helps companies limit their actions that contribute to global warming.

The world is made up of 71 percent water so it’s only right to take biodiversity into consideration.

Davines’ packaging are also made sustainably.

With this, Davines and Rodale Institute put up a research center that focuses on regenerative organic agriculture.

When it comes to the content of each bottle, 83.6 percent are derived from natural origin while 79.2 percent are highly biodegradable ingredients.

Talking about the packaging itself, they have avoided the penetration of 841.3 tons of fossil-based virgin plastic, meaning its packaging are also made sustainably. packaging is 62.9 percent recycled or bio-based. And if making these eco-friendly isn’t enough, Davines has collected 100 tons of ocean-bound plastics in partnership with Plastic Bank.

We have a long way to go in making everyone aware of the benefits of being sustainable.

Fortunately, Davines and other brands with the similar vision pave the way for many to start their sustainability journey.
