Knights eye revenge

Game today:
(Filoil EcoOil Centre)
3 p.m. — Letran vs Arellano

Defending champion Letran College attempts to get back at Arellano University today as action in Season 98 National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament intensifies at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Still hurting from a 72-69 defeat in the first round, the Knights are also trying to ramp up its Final Four bid in the 3 p.m. encounter.

Letran has been firing on all cylinders lately and a victory over Arellano will be its fifth straight.

Head coach Bonnie Tan admitted that the Knights were horrible on that day the Chiefs staged an ambush but is upbeat that his players have learned their lesson.

“We played badly in that game and I think that will be the challenge the player need (for them to play batter),” Tan said.

“A lot can happen here in the second round. We hope we’ll be able to sustain our winning run because this will become a grind for us,” Tan added.

When Arellano upset Letran, it snapped a 14-game winning streak that started in Game 3 of the Season 95 finals in 2019.

It was Cade Flores who made things happen for Arellano with 18 points and nine rebounds.
