VP Sara lauded on new DepEd directive

A federation of private schools expressed its appreciation to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte for allowing private schools to continue implementing blended or full distance learning.

Federation of Associations of Private Schools Administrators chairperson Eleazardo Kasilag said that they are grateful that Duterte sees the position of the private schools.

“Allowing us to continue with the either the blended learning or hybrid is something we treasure,” Kasilag said.

He also stressed that private schools will have more problems if full face-to-face classes will be implemented.

“Even our own parents do not want to send their kids to school daily since the outbreak of Covid-19 is very much around,” Kasilag said.

The FAPSA chair added that it is still unsafe for children to attend classes in an enclosed area like classroom with no proper ventilation, especially now with the detection of Covid-19 Omicron XBB and XVC sub-variants in the country.

“Nobody can still claim we are free or that staying outside, especially in a packed classroom is now safe. We cannot toy around if it concerns our children’s lives. Learning may suffer but that is all right because we can still redeem that but with life, which is irreparable,” Kasilag said.
