Pakbet aiming for grand finals

Omega Esports head coach Jomie “Pakbet” Abalos believes that they have what it takes to make it in the grand finals of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 11 Playoffs set from 4 to 7 May at the SMX Convention Convention Center in Pasay.

Pakbet said they will be more prepared and focused in a bid to make it to the finals of the country’s most prestigious Mobile Legends tournament.

A typical Omega Esports showed up as it had a roller coaster campaign in the regular season. Still, it was good enough for them to secure the last slot in the Playoffs after finishing sixth in the standings with 6-8 win-loss record.

“I think it is possible (that we make it to the finals). We used to play two teams per week so we were unable to fully prepare for them,” Pakbet said.

“Now we can focus on playing against one team so we will be more prepared. We know now what to do and we are not satisfied with how we played yet.”

But catching fire late is nothing new to Omega Esports.

In Season 9, in fact, it also had some scary moments before pulling off a massive upset of ECHO in the opening match before clinching a berth in the grand finals.

Although they lost to RSG PH in the end, their performance was still good enough to qualify to Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2022 where they booked a top three finish for a $30,000 cash prize.

Omega Esports also proved inconsistent in the regular season of MPL Season 10.

They made it to the Playoffs only to get eliminated in the opening match by powerhouse Bren Esports.

Omega Esports’ ex-team captain and now assistant coach Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic said they have already learned to embrace the pressure and focus on how the game should be played.

“We have experienced pressure for many seasons, but this one we told the players not to think about the outcome just think about showing how they play,” E2MAX said.
